Privacy at Curato
We believe in privacy by design. Our goal is to handle as little of your data as possible. Here’s a simple breakdown of how we protect your privacy.
What We Collect
For server transfers, we temporarily store the file/text content and its metadata (like filename and size). For analytics, we collect anonymous usage data. For security and moderation of public content, we may log your IP address and browser information.
Automatic Deletion
Your shared files and text are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers after the first download or when their short-term expiration time is reached (max 7 days). This does not apply to permanent "Shares" or "Lockers".
End-to-End Encryption
By default, all your temporary transfers are end-to-end encrypted in the browser. This means we, the server administrators, can never access the content of your files or text.
Local-Only History
Your transfer history is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage on your device. This information is never sent to our servers and is completely private to you.
Special Features & Public Content
Peer-to-Peer (P2P): For maximum privacy, our Torrents feature uses direct P2P connections. In these cases, your data is never sent to our servers at all.
Lockers, Shares, Pastes & Galleries: Files and text in permanent Shares, private Lockers, public Pastes, and Galleries are stored on our servers. To ensure platform safety and to be able to respond to legal requests, for any content you upload to these permanent and/or public features, we log metadata including your IP address, browser information, and a cryptographic hash (checksum) of the file contents for every upload.
